Larry Page History

Larry Page
Larry Page was born in East Lansing, Michigan, United States, March 26, 1973. Page is the son of Gloria and Carl Victor Page, a professor of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Michigan.


Page's passion for computers began at age six, following in the footsteps of his father enrolled at East Lansing High School. He graduated with honors from Michigan State University where he earned a degree in Computer Science. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Stanford University. Business School awarded him an Honorary Master of Business Administration and was the first recipient of the Alumni Society Award of recent engineering graduate from the University of Michigan.

During his PhD at Stanford he met Sergey Brin. Together they developed and launched the search engine Google, which began operating in 1998. Google is based on patented PageRank technology. He says he put this name to search for his likeness to the word googol, which in English means 10 to the 100th (10 ^ 100).


Page was president of Google along with Brin until 2001, they decided to hire Eric Schmidt. Page runs alongside Google's Sergey Brin and Schmidt.


As at April 4, 2011 Eric Schmidt goes out of business as CEO of Google to make way for Larry Page.
