Vladimir Lisin

Vladimir Lisin (born May 7, 1956 in Ivanovo) is a Russian steel magnate. It is considered by Forbes as the richest man in Russia and 14 of the richest in the world. His estimated net worth of $ 24 billion.


Vladimir Lisin has been a member of the Board of Directors of Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) since 1996 and president since 1998. Since 1993 he has served as board member of several leading Russian metal producers, including NLMK, MMK and Sayansk and Novokuznetsk Aluminium Plants. He previously served as Deputy Chief Engineer and Deputy Director General of the steel plant in Karaganda, Kazakhstan, one of the four largest steel plants. He began his career in the metal factory as a foreman Tulachermet, rising through the ranks to become section chief and manager of the store.


He is a graduate of the Siberian Metallurgical Institute (1979), received a master's degree in Engineering Metal (1989), an MA in Economics of the Russian Academy of Economics and Presidential Administration (RANEPA) (1992), a Ph.D. in Engineering metal (1997), he taught at RANEPA (1999), and received a Ph.D. in economics (2005).


Holds several patents for metallurgical processes and has published numerous articles on metallurgy and economics. He teaches at the Academy of National Economy and head of the Council of Ministers Prize in science and engineering (1989), the Metal of Honor Russia (1999), the Knight of the Order of Honour of the Russian Federation (2000) and the Knight of the Order of St. Sergiy Radonezhsky (2001).

Lisin is married and has three children: Vyacheslav, Dmitry and Alexander. They were born in 1972, 1983 and 1994.
